The Valiant Little Tailor
The traditional folk tale is about a tailor who develops a fearsome reputation after killing seven flies with one blow. After this show the Wonderland Puppet Theater decided to stop representing violence in their shows. Non-violence was a core tenet of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s philosophy. Alice later worked in the public schools teaching parenting skills. In this role she advocated not using corporal punishment. The most important puppet from this show was Dimples the Giant. He was repurposed and appeared in other shows, often as an MC. Alice called him Dimples because her infant son, Michael was sleeping in his crib next to her while she worked on the puppet and she gave the puppet dimples like her baby.
