The Magic Onion

After spotting the script for Bil Baird’s “The Magic Onion” in Woman’s Day magazine, Nancy persuaded Alice to produce the show as a summer recreation activity. A number of talented educators lived in the community and were available to take roles in the show. Other neighbors helped construct the puppets, props, and a stage. Neighbors also donated fabrics and other materials so the show became a powerful community building activity. After the initial performance, Wonderland Puppet Theater formed a non-profit and began performing for schools, hospitals, scout troops etc.

Like all good fairy tales, this one contains lots of drama, suspense and action! The characters are the Princess, the Prince, the Magician, Gobbledegook (the dragon), a pair of dangerous vegetables called Nightcorkers, and Spotty, the dog.
